Built from the
dialysis chair.
I was diagnosed with ESRD, end-stage renal disease, and began hemodialysis in 2021. Three sessions a week, four hours each. I sat in a dialysis center in Phoenix, Arizona and quickly realized something: patients like me were expected to manage a medically complex condition with almost no accessible tools or education.
I built ChairCalm because I wanted to understand my own pull rate, the speed at which fluid is removed during dialysis, and share that awareness with my family. I built Patient Advocate One because I spent hundreds of hours researching information that should have been handed to me in plain language from day one.
I built Dialysis Wellness because the emotional and psychological reality of living on dialysis is rarely acknowledged, let alone supported. And I built GereNetCo because none of these tools should require a software engineering background to exist.
That is the gap these tools fill. Not because anyone assigned me this work, but because I needed it. And so does every other patient sitting in that chair.
- → Patients deserve to understand their own treatment.
- → Families deserve to be informed, not excluded.
- → Education should be free and accessible to everyone.
- → Technology built by patients works better for patients.
Every tool was built
because I needed it.
No grant funded the first version. No focus group designed the features. A patient sat in the chair and built what was missing.
I needed to understand my pull rate, how fast fluid was being removed, and know when something felt wrong. ChairCalm puts that information in the patient's hands during every session.
I spent hundreds of hours researching dialysis basics that should have been explained to me on day one. PAO narrates that education in plain language, free, available during treatment or between sessions.
The psychological and physical reality of living on dialysis (fatigue, anxiety, diet, sleep) is rarely acknowledged. Dialysis Wellness addresses the four days between sessions with practical, patient-informed guidance.
None of these tools should require a software engineering background to exist. GereNetCo is the umbrella that makes patient-founded innovation sustainable, and ensures everything remains free for patients.
How we build.
Not a researcher who studied dialysis. A patient who had to live it.
Grounded in established care standards and lived experience: accuracy without jargon.
Built from 5+ years of sitting in the chair.
Free for every patient, regardless of income, tech literacy, or insurance status.
Technology that makes a real difference for patients, not just healthcare professionals.
Why GereNetCo exists.
Innovation built from lived experience, not from a research lab, but from the dialysis chair.
Not a researcher who studied dialysis. A patient who had to live it. They decided the tools we all needed didn't exist yet.
Every feature is grounded in established care standards and real patient experience: accuracy without jargon, information without overwhelm.
Built from 5+ years of sitting in the chair.
Technology that makes a real difference for patients, not just healthcare professionals. Free, accessible, and built to scale with every patient who needs it.
Dialysis is a medically complex, three-times-a-week commitment. ChairCalm puts you in control of your own session awareness, helping you understand your fluid balance, track symptoms over time, keep your family informed, and build a clearer picture of your treatment for you and your care team. Designed by a dialysis patient who needed it and couldn't find it anywhere else.
Track fluid gain and understand your pull rate before each session.
SMS to up to 5 family contacts when attention is needed.
Log how you feel session by session so your care team has context.
Review past sessions, trends, and wellness summaries over time.
ChairCalm is a personal awareness tool. It does not provide medical advice or diagnoses. Always follow your care team's guidance.

Post-session fatigue management, rest strategies, and practical guidance for the hours after dialysis.
Kidney-friendly meal guidance, phosphorus and potassium awareness, fluid tracking, and practical food choices.

Partner with us
to put patients first.
GereNetCo is a patient-founded company building dialysis technology and education grounded in lived experience. We partner with dialysis providers, nephrologists, researchers, advocacy organizations, and funders who share that commitment. Everything we build is free for patients. Our partnerships make that sustainable.
🏥 Dialysis Centers & Providers
We are actively seeking nephrology practices, dialysis chains, and independent centers to pilot ChairCalm, a free in-session fluid and symptom monitoring tool built for patients seated in the treatment chair. Pilots are zero-cost to the center and require no EHR integration. We provide onboarding, patient training materials, and outcome summaries.
Bring ChairCalm to your treatment floor. No cost, no EHR integration required. We support the rollout start to finish.
Embed Patient Advocate One narrated episodes into your patient education program. Free, accessible, and wellness focused.
Nephrologists and dialysis nurses: help shape our roadmap. We actively seek healthcare advisors who want to influence patient-focused digital health tools.
🔬 Research & Academic Collaborations
ChairCalm collects structured patient self-report data on fluid gain, blood pressure, and treatment symptoms across sessions. This creates a research-ready dataset for studying patient self-monitoring adherence, digital health engagement in ESRD, and symptom burden across dialysis modalities. We welcome co-PI arrangements, IRB-supported observational studies, and graduate research partnerships.
Study patient self-monitoring engagement, fluid management behavior, and symptom trends across ESRD populations using real-world data.
Investigate how patient built, patient centered tools drive adherence differently than provider-prescribed technology. Lived experience design as a variable.
Dialysis patient populations are disproportionately Black, older, and underserved. Our tools are designed for accessibility and reach. Let's measure that.
💰 Grant & Funding Opportunities
GereNetCo is actively pursuing grant and funding opportunities to sustain free patient access. We welcome co-investigator arrangements, organizational co-applicants, and letters of support from healthcare and community partners. Current focus areas include KidneyX, the AAKP Jenny Kitsen Patient Safety Award, ESRD Network grants, and NIH digital health programs (SBIR/STTR).
Academic medical centers, nephrology departments, or advocacy organizations can join as co-applicants on grant proposals targeting KidneyX or NIH SBIR/STTR programs.
Dialysis centers, ESRD networks, and nephrology practices can strengthen grant applications with letters of support affirming patient care need and deployment readiness.
Foundations and individual donors who care about patient safety, health equity, or lived-experience-led healthcare innovation. We would love to talk.
📣 Patient Advocacy & Community Organizations
We collaborate with ESRD networks, kidney disease advocacy groups, dialysis patient communities, and social service organizations to ensure GereNetCo tools reach every patient who needs them, regardless of tech literacy, language, or circumstance.
ESRD Networks can deploy GereNetCo tools as part of QIP and patient engagement initiatives across their member facilities at no cost.
AAKP, NKF, American Kidney Fund partners and regional dialysis advocacy organizations. Let us co-promote patient education and connect communities.
Community health workers, social workers, and peer support programs can integrate GereNetCo tools to support patients between treatments.
"We did not build ChairCalm to sell it to hospitals. We built it so the person sitting in that chair for four hours, the one who doesn't always know why they feel so bad after treatment, has something built specifically for them. Every partnership we pursue starts from that premise."

GereNetCo was founded by Gerey, a hemodialysis patient in Phoenix, Arizona, after beginning dialysis treatment in 2021. Experiencing firsthand the lack of practical, patient-centered support during and between treatments, he created ChairCalm, Patient Advocate One, and Dialysis Wellness — not as a researcher or healthcare organization, but as a patient building the tools he wished had existed. GereNetCo operates under Gerenet LLC with a mission to improve the dialysis experience through education, wellness, technology, and patient advocacy.
ChairCalm is in private beta — sign up at chaircalm.com to request access. For early access to Dialysis Wellness, use the contact form below. If you are a healthcare professional, researcher, or patient advocate interested in partnering, email gerenet@gerenetco.com.
