AI Safety Policy

How ChairCalm uses artificial intelligence responsibly in a healthcare context.

Effective: January 1, 2026  ·  Last Updated: June 2026

ChairCalm AI is educational only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions, or replace the guidance of your licensed care team. Always follow your nephrologist's and dialysis care team's instructions.

What AI Does in ChairCalm

ChairCalm uses AI in limited, clearly defined ways:

What AI Cannot Do in ChairCalm

If you experience a medical emergency, call 911 or contact your dialysis center immediately. ChairCalm is not an emergency response system.

Emergency Escalation

The PAO Companion is configured to refuse any request for urgent medical assessment. If a user describes symptoms such as chest pain, breathing difficulty, or access bleeding, the AI responds only with: "I cannot assess urgent medical situations. Please contact your care team or call 911 now."

Data Privacy and AI

ChairCalm does not use your personal health data to train AI models. Chat interactions with the PAO Companion are proxied to Anthropic's Claude API. Data handling is governed by Anthropic's usage policies and our Privacy Policy.

Human Oversight

All AI-generated content on Patient Advocate One is reviewed by a human before publication. Educational scripts, articles, and terms definitions are written and fact-checked by a patient advocate with lived dialysis experience. AI assists with drafting and narration only.
